TECM Application Maintenance, Technology Division, Rome, Italy

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. We are currently seeking to fill a Data Quality Assurance intern position in our Unit of the TEC Division, based in Rome, Italy.

The data reside in a platform called GLASS that will be the main data source for the incoming CMDB.

Brief description of TECM unit:

TECM is part of the TEC division and focuses on providing operational support for IT services in HQ and worldwide. TECM includes the management of the infrastructure, the support to applications, the internal and on cloud hosting, the networking services, the support to the adoption of the services and the user support, including the Services Desk.

Duties and responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the team leader, the candidate will perform the following duties:

  • Use the tools and processes given to ensure that the CIs included in the Data Model and related attributes/relationships are always up to date and correct.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the procedures and processes to be used for quality control
  • Perform regular audit procedures to assess the quality of the data
  • Identify data that need to be fixed and engage with the concerned Officer for fixing it
  • Liaise with the data quality focal points in the field countries, providing guidance and support to fix data entered locally
  • Document the evolution of the GLASS platform in terms of features provided (catalog of services)
  • Draft documentation and run workshops whereas needed for features intended to a large audience.
  • Any other duties as required

Qualifications and experience

  • Currently enrolled with at least two years undergraduate studies completed, or recently graduated in the Information Technology area (within the past six months)

Supervision (Level/Methods of Supervision)

Under the direct supervision of Team leader of the Application Maintenance Team, the incumbent will be provided with close mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be elemental part of the supervision. With the support of a comprehensive induction package and assignment of a buddy/mentor, the intern will rapidly become a productive member of the team.

Training components

Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

Learning Elements

At the end of the assignment, the Intern should:

Be able to design, organize and maintain processes and procedures that ensure the data quality for a CMDB

Liaise with teams and focal points worldwide to enforce the desired level of data quality

Document the progresses made by the platform in term of services

Prepare documentation in support of the adoption of the most relevant features and services

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
