The UNICEF Internship Programme offers qualified and eligible students at both Headquarters (HQ) and Country Offices (CO) the unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF's work and the United Nations system under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff.

To be considered for an internship with UNICEF, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree programme or have graduated within the past two years; and
  • Good oral and written skills in Portuguese are required, knowledge of English or French is an asset
  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; Good knowledge of Excel and Data entry monitoring tools is an asset.
  • Experience working with children / youth organisations is an advantage.
  • Adequate knowledge of Management software’s, as Monitoring tools, Accounting Software etc is an asset
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records

Purpose of the internship:

UNICEF is supporting the Government of Guinea-Bissau, in collaboration with its partners, to promote child rights, knowledge, behaviour and social change to achieve results for children, with particular focus on disadvantaged children, families and communities.

The Guinea-Bissau Country Office seeks to recruit a multitalented, dynamic, and forward-thinking individual for the position of CSD intern to support the respective section by carrying out procedural, administrative, and operational tasks, to help develop, implement, and monitor their country programme. The CSD intern will report directly to the Chief of CSD.

Tasks

Under the guidance of the Child Survival and Development (CSD) programme assistants:

  1. Support proper control of the supporting documents for payments.
  2. Support the monitoring of project activities.
  3. Support program assistance to help implementing partners in DCT settlement processes.
  4. Assist in procurement requests directly with the responsible team and in close collaboration with the procurement team, ensuring that processes and payments are completed in a timely manner.
  5. Support timely corrective actions to be undertaken in the PI's justifications.
  6. Support in the organization of meetings, workshops and logistics needed for the Unit's activities.
  7. Support the calls, meetings, and follow-ups with the IP for DCT regularization processes.
  8. Perform any other duties as required.

Start date (indicative): 10 August 2022

Duration: The duration of the internship is three months with possible extension up to a maximum of 6 months. The candidates should indicate their availability in the cover letter.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a first-level or advanced level university degree in Management, economics, administration, accounting and or audit, or have graduated within the past two years.

  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; monitoring tools is an asset.

  • Experience in monitoring and finance verification.
