In accordance with these international standard-setting instruments, the Secretariat of UNESCO has been tasked to organize the statutory meetings of the treaties, as well as to implement activities for their wider ratification and effective implementation. In 2021, intergovernmental meetings of the States Parties to the 1954 Hague Convention and its Second Protocol, as well as the subsequent meeting of the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict will be convened with a rich agenda covering items ranging from overall exchange of good practices between States to the adoption of monitoring and supervisions mechanisms for the protection of cultural property. In this context, UNESCO is launching a call for expressions of interest for qualified and interested young candidates to undertake assignments described below. Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-general for Culture, the general supervision of the Director of Culture and Emergencies Entity, the Secretary of the 1954 Hague Convention, and direct supervision of the Head of Cultural Heritage Protection Treaties Unit, the intern will perform the following functions: Long Description ---------------- - Provide assistance in the preparation of the forthcoming 14th Meeting of the High Contracting Parties, 9th Meeting of the Parties to the Second Protocol and 16th Meeting of the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict; - Provide assistance in proofreading and concordance check of the statutory documents as well as all associated reports; - Provide assistance in drafting of project proposals for potential donors on the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict; - Provide assistance in in drafting and proofreading of communication documents for publishing on the Convention webpage; - Provide assistance on the preparation of internal briefings on the questions related to the 1954 Hague Convention and its two Protocols; - Any other task, including studies and research activities, required by the supervisor/manager. Acquire insight into strategic issues related to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage at the international level; 3.
