ABOUT WFP

We are currently seeking to fill an intern position with Research Assessment and Monitoring Unit to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of graduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months in Administration, International Relations, Business Management or equivalent areas of studies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English.

JOB PURPOSE

The Research Assessments and Monitoring unit provides a wide portfolio of services to other units at the country office, in field offices and to country office management. To be able to deliver these services the units need to handle several internal processes for the management of procurement and finance related tasks and reporting.

The business support assistant will be responsible to liaise with colleagues in the RAM unit and in other relevant units (Admin, procurement, finance and HR above all), to ensure these tasks are completed in due time following WFP’s corporate rules and processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Collaborate with RAM colleagues and colleagues in other units at the country office to handle procurement of goods and services
  • Provide support to the head of RAM unit and to the VAM and M&E team leaders for financial reporting and budget management
  • Liaise with providers and finance colleagues for monthly payments
  • Produce required documentation on procurement and admin processes.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Good communication skills in order to provide specialized business support services to a wide range of individuals.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and monitor budgets.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to build relationships with a variety of individuals across functions.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP of US$ 575 per month.
  • The internship programme is for a duration of 6 months, with possibility to extend for additional 2 months.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
