The Division of Public Partnerships (PPD) works to strengthen UNICEF's position as a partner of choice for children's rights among governments and public actors around the world. The division is doing this by connecting UNICEF’s positioning of children in intergovernmental and multilateral fora and negotiations to the engagement with governments and public institutions (including IFIs) as resource, policy and program partners. A key premise for PPD is that the engagement with countries is be based on multiple levels of partnerships, including around resource mobilization and policy advocacy.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Public Partnerships Manager in PPD Humanitarian Partnerships and Financing Team, the intern will provide support to the overall work of the team by accomplishing tasks related to data analysis, communications, and knowledge management.

Through this position, the Intern will have the opportunity to learn about UNICEF’s humanitarian action for children and be part of interesting discussions with UNICEF’s resource partners on the humanitarian financing global agenda. The intern will also have access to UNICEF’s online learning platform Agora for personal and career development.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain the internal knowledge management and information sharing online platform for the Humanitarian Partnerships and Financing Team.
  • Do research and analysis related to humanitarian financing, including drafting and designing a monthly newsletter on humanitarian issues and funding trends, and contributing to UNICEF’s humanitarian-related knowledge products.
  • Support the resource mobilization of UNICEF Country Offices and Regional Offices by reviewing the 2022 Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC) appeals and participating in the development of 2023 HAC appeals.
  • Support organizing and implementing the 2023 Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC) launch event in December 2022.
  • Attending internal and external meetings on humanitarian issues, humanitarian financing policies and funding, and reporting back to the team.
  • Other tasks as appropriate, and aligned with the Intern’s interest.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • University degree in international relations, social sciences, public administration, law or related field. Enrollment in a graduate school programme or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information, visualize data and communicate it simply and effectively.
  • Experience in communications and/or knowledge management is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Sharepoint and internet research tools.
  • Knowledge of using design software (such as InDesign, Publisher, Adobe Photoshop etc.), CMS platforms (Drupal), and email marketing platforms (Microsoft Sway etc.) is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the fundraising environment, aid policies of government donors, humanitarian issues, and resource mobilization strategies is an asset.
  • Fluency in English required. Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.

Remarks:
