Duties and Responsibilities

The UNDP project will hire one International Trainer-Expert to conduct "ToT for the team of National Trainers of the MoHMI Division for SES to improve training skills, facilitation and interpersonal communication skills through training of medical specialists". ToT trainings should be based on modern methods, and effective practices, and comply with the world, and international standards. Also, trainings should be modified and adapted to the national standards, current healthcare system needs, goals and objectives of the Project. In addition to one International Trainer, the project is hiring one national trainer, to facilitate the organization of the ToT.

After completing the ToT, National Trainers of the MoHMI Division for SES should be able to create a positive and productive learning environment for training medical specialists, effectively plan and organize the learning process, actively listen to and involve all participants in the learning process, effectively use interpersonal communication skills, give constructive feedback, conduct assessment of knowledge and skills before and after the training, analyze the results, prepare analytical reports to improve the quality and effectiveness for future classes.

To evaluate the effectiveness of the training, the International Trainer-Expert should test trainees before and after the training. After completing the trainings, it is necessary to provide an analytical report to the Project Management. The same skills of analyzing the effectiveness of the training and preparing reports must be transferred and developed by the trainees - the National Trainers of the MoHMI Division for SES and the National trainer-consultant.

International Trainer-Expert must have a proven set of teaching materials with a history of successful use in the training of trainers (ToT) within the framework of an international project or a project involving international organizations in the health field, sociology, ecology, biology, pedagogy or related fields.

Trainings and educational materials can be supplemented, adapted and modified with the assistance and support of the National Trainer-Consultant, in accordance with the current requirements of the National Health Service, the goals and objectives of the Project and the ToT.

The International Trainer-Expert Training set and ToT set should include, but not be limited to:

  • Principles of building a training (taking into account the characteristics and identifying the audience’s needs, clearly formulating the goals and objectives of the training, the structure of the training, etc.);
  • Recommendations and requirements for organizational and technical preparation for ToT (premises, IT equipment, handouts, visual aids, etc.);
  • Interactive teaching methods (simulation of situations, joint analysis of debatable points, provision of several relevant solutions, etc.);
  • Training module on establishing rapport with the audience (how to ask and answer audience questions, how to respond to controversial ideas, active listening, etc.);
  • Training module on the basic facilitation skills necessary for effective training (establishing mutual understanding and leading to compromise solutions, encouraging trust and transparency, achieving involvement of all participants in the discussion, stimulating less active participants, etc.);
  • Test tasks to determine the level of skills of participants before the start of the ToT;
  • Test tasks to determine progress after finishing the ToT;

Based on the training set agreed upon and approved by the Project Management, the International Trainer-Expert will conduct a ToT for 20 National trainers (training dates are open and will be discussed further).

The International trainer-expert will work in the Project team with the National trainer-consultant, under the overall supervision of the UNDP Program Specialist, the Project Manager and the National Project Coordinator from MoHMI.

Competencies

  • Training skills for conducting ToTs or special trainings for leading specialists. Preference will be given to specialists with experience in conducting ToTs, as well as trainings in the field of forming basic and/or professional training skills and developing facilitation and interpersonal communication skills in the field of healthcare, medicine, ecology, biology and similar;
  • Skills in compiling modules and preparing educational, visual, theoretical, practical, interactive, inclusive materials for short-term training courses for international projects and teams;
  • Experience in working with international, government and public organizations.

Required Skills and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor or Master degree education level in one or more of the fields, such as: medicine, health care, biology, ecology, natural science, pedagogy will be an advantage;
  • Certificate confirming the qualification of a trainer;

Professional experience

  • At least 3 years of practical experience in the field of training for international, transnational, state or public organizations;
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in the development of training modules and preparation of materials for short-term training courses in the framework of international projects;
  • Experience in conducting ToT for health workers will be an advantage;
  • Experience in cooperation with international, state and public projects and organizations in Turkmenistan will be an advantage.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in spoken and written Russian;
  • English – optional;

IT requirements:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, creating presentations and other software for visualizing educational material.
