How can you make a difference?

The first line supervision will be provided by the Deputy Representative, in consultation and under the guidance of the Representative. The day to day work will be organized in consultation with the Chief of Social Policy, Planning and Monitoring & Evaluation (SPPME).

SCOPE OF WORK

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Deputy Representative, the Editor/ Translator will undertake the following duties and responsibilities: - Provide high quality editing and translation (French to English) of the UNICEF Chad Country Office documents related to the CPD preparation process and programming processes - Ensure accuracy of terms and terminology used in the document - Check the coherence of the information and statistics throughout the documents - Ensure complete compliance with the UNICEF guidelines on publications - Complete the work within the agreed timeline and submit the final translation in both soft and hard copy.

EXPECTED RESULTS/DELIVERABLES

- Pre-SMR report translated and edited - SMR report translated and edited - Draft CPD translated and edited - SITAN Dashboard translated and edited - Other programme planning and reporting documents as identified by the Country Office translated and edited.

PAYMENT MODALITY

High-quality editing and/or translation from French to English without further editing of documents will be delivered by assigned timeline. The method of payment is based on the receipt of deliverables, after quality assurance and clearance by the supervisor. Fees will be paid on the basis of deliverables accompanied by invoice validated by the supervisor SPECIFIC WORK CONDITIONS : - The consultant will work remotely. - The working days are estimated at 50 working days, within 11 months: October 2021 – September 2022.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES - Master’s degree in Translation from an accredited institution recognized by UNESCO (preferred); - Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development, Business, Public Health, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field with certification in translation from an accredited institution - At least 8 years of proven professional experience in the field of professional English writing and editing of international development reports (experience in editing reports on social sectors including Health, WASH, HIV, Nutrition, Education, social inclusion, Child Protection is an asset); - Ability to synthesize documents - Excellent writing skills in English, fluency in French and in English is required. - Demonstrated understanding of technical terms used in areas of human development, socioeconomic aspects, statistics and children; - Familiarity with UNICEF / UN terminology is an asset.
  • COMPETENCIES - Strong analytical and writing skills - Ability to work independently - Excellent teamwork skills; and - Excellent computer skills in word and data processing.
