Duties and Responsibilities

Organizational Setting, Purpose and Objective: The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. This consultancy is homebased under the supervision of the Regional Coordinator of the Finance and Economic Transformations subprogramme, of the UNEP West Asia Office (UNEP ROWA). UNEP’s work in Finance and Economic Transformations focusses on supporting regions, countries and businesses in their transition to inclusive green economies. This involves promoting green finance and investments, sustainable trade, mainstreaming of green economy pathways into sustainable development planning and sectoral policies in order to decouple (i.e. delink) economic growth and activity from environmental impact while improving human well-being and job creation. Through its focus on Inclusive Green Economies, the programme pays specific attention to the social dimensions of sustainable development and green economy. Fostering equality, equal participation and the creation of decent jobs are central to human well-being. Sustainable lifestyles and consumption patterns are also essential in this regard. Through changing behaviour and consumption patterns, powerful market signals will be sent that will enable the transition to inclusive green economies. This contract aims at contributing to the delivery of the Global Opportunities for Sustainable Development Goals (GO4SDGs) project in the West Asia region, by creating communications contents for supporting behavioural change and sustainable lifestyle initiatives targeting different areas such as: food waste, textile sector, and fashion, with the youth in the very focus. The GO4SDGs aims to accelerate the necessary progress to meet the 2030 Agenda, especially for SDG 12 (Sustainable Consumption and Production) and SDG 8 (Decent Work & Green Economies). The Initiative builds partnerships to connect global initiatives with regional needs and solutions addressing governments, SMEs and Youth. The objective of this contract is to substantively coordinate with UNEP ROWA team with designing, developing and editing of animated content, photos, and videos, all while aligning to the different brands developed from previous campaigns (Recipe of Change and West Asia Sustainable Fashion Academy) in addition to content that will be developed with the Food Waste Advocate for West Asia. The impact of the communications activities will have to be monitored through outreach Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The conveyed messages will have to be coherent with the work carried out by UNEP.

• Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Regional Coordinator of the Finance and Economic Transformations subprogramme in UNEP West Asia Office, the consultant will take the overall responsibility of the following: - Conceptualize and design 6 videos: developing the contents to convey messages in an effective and catchy way; create coherent messages with the work carried out by UNEP in the framework of a set of regional initiatives such as the Recipe of Change campaign and the West Asia Sustainable Fashion Academy; - Manage the activities and logistics to create the series of videos, as well as identifying critical stakeholders and partners to maximize the outreach. - Develop different communication assets required to promote various events and activate awareness raising campaigns (at least twocampaign activations). - Design and develop fashion related contents as part of the West Asia Sustainable Fashion Academy creating linkages between Climate Change and the Fashion industry with regional designers and key stakeholders in the fashion value chain. - Design the outreach report, identifying the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and report the impact of the communication assets produced.
