Result of Service VBSS Training for Instructors from Indonesia and Philippines: Update and customize where necessary GMCP curriculum for VBSS Instructor training. Deliver pre-boarding classroom training to Instructors. Deliver practical VBSS boarding and search training under compliant and non-compliant boarding conditions. Draft completion report on the training.

VBSS Training for Boarding Teams from Malaysia and Indonesia: Deliver pre-boarding classroom training to boarding teams. Deliver practical VBSS boarding and search training under compliant and non-compliant boarding conditions. Draft completion report on the training.

Work Location Home-based with travel to Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines

Expected duration 6-25 August 2023

Duties and Responsibilities Under the direct supervision and regular liaison with the Programme Coordinator (Southeast Asia and the Pacific) the expert will perform the following tasks:

  • Prepare, review and update training resources required for TOT and VBSS Training courses
  • Deliver VBSS Training for Instructor for Philippines and Indonesia
  • Deliver VBSS Training for Boarding Teams for Malaysia and Indonesia

    Qualifications/special skills Education qualifications:

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in criminal justice, criminology, law, political science, management or other related fields is required. A first-level university degree in the aforementioned fields in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Formal qualifications or certifications from a recognised nation al or international customs authority, police academy, or military-training institution, supplemented by specialization in criminal justice, crime prevention, or law enforcement, in combination with four (4) additional years of qualifying work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the first level university degree.

Work Experience:

A minimum of 7 years of working experience in the field of maritime law enforcement is required. Experience as maritime law enforcement trainer is required Experience of training in an international environment is required, with experience training maritime law enforcement officers required Basic IT skills is required A broad understanding of the maritime situation in Southeast Asia Region is desirable

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations Secretariat language is an advantage.
