You have:
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience in development and practical implementation of policy, legislation and regulation and provision of advice at the national and international level is required.
- Knowledge of international legal instruments on chemicals and waste is required.
- Excellent coordination and organizational skills.
- Excellent communications skills (written and oral) and fluent command of English.
- Excellent drafting skills, ability to communicate complex technical issues in an accessible manner to facilitate decision making.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a multitasking environment is required.
- Level II of another official United Nations language is desirable.

Result of Service
The consultant will support the coordination of processes related to the first International Conference of the Global Framework on Chemicals by: a) Leading and coordinating the substantive preparation of documents and presentations including drafting and reviewing documents, and coordination of translations. b) Supporting the Head of the Secretariat in providing advice to the Chair and Bureau during the intersessional period and during the Conference, including substantive preparation for the Bureau and related meetings. c) Oversight of document control, including conference Room papers and decision-making during the Conference and review of draft Conference report. d) Support to preparations for regional stakeholders’ meetings ahead of the International Conference. e) Providing guidance to stakeholders. f) Maintaining collaboration with intergovernmental organizations and leveraging their expertise as well as analyzing data to support evidence-based planning, reporting and decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities
For a Planet Free of Harm (GFC) is an inclusive, voluntary global policy framework on the safe and sustainable management of chemicals and waste and is hosted by UNEP, Chemicals and Health Branch in Geneva. The aim of the Framework is to prevent or, where prevention is not feasible, minimize harm from chemicals and waste to protect the environment and human health, including that of vulnerable groups and workers. The objective of this contract is to support the Global Framework on Chemicals Secretariat the preparations for and conduct of the first International Conference in November 2026 by driving and coordinating the substantive preparations for the first International Conference, and related functions. The consultant will support to the coordination of the first International Conference of the Global Framework on Chemicals by: a) Leading and coordinating the preparation of documents and presentations including drafting and reviewing documents, and coordination of translations. b) Supporting the Head of the Secretariat in providing advice to the Chair and Bureau intersessionally and during the Conference, including substantive organization of Bureau and related intersession meetings. c) Oversight of document control and decision-making during the Conference and review of draft Conference report. d) Proactive monitoring to identify and resolve issues. e) Support to preparations for regional stakeholders’ meetings ahead of the International Conference. f) Providing guidance to stakeholders. g) Maintaining collaboration with intergovernmental organizations and leveraging their expertise as well as analyzing data to support evidence-based planning, reporting and decision-making. h) Performs other duties as required.
