Overview

Support communications work of the RCO

You have:

  • Master’s degree in communications
  • At least 5 years of work experience relevant to the assignment
  • At least 3 years of proven experience of using social media and online communications
  • Fluency in written and oral English is required

Result of Service The International Consultant will be responsible for supporting the communications work of the RCO.

Work Location Yangon

Expected duration 1 Year

Duties and Responsibilities The International Consultant will be responsible for supporting the communications work of the RCO.

This will include:

Strategic communications:

  • In close coordination with the RCO Team Leader, provide substantive guidance on strategic communications issues, including crisis communications support, to the RC and UNCT.

  • Support the RCO Team Leader in his role as UN Communications Group Chair, liaise with UN agencies, funds and programmes communication focal points on the 2023 communications strategy and develop a 2023 implementation plan.

  • Undertake analysis and review of the UN in Myanmar’s communications platforms, particularly engagement analysis, and draft a report that outlines options to further develop and optimise the platforms.

  • Provide inputs to the drafting of UNCT/RC statements, press releases, and common messaging as required and to liaise with other UN communications specialists and public information officers for all public communications for their statements and releases.

  • Develop a paper outlining a crisis communication management approach for the UNCT.

Media engagement - Develop a strategy and implementation plan that outlines options for enhanced engagement between the UNCT and the media.

  • Identify and support opportunities to create visibility for the UNCT through media partnerships and events, in turn raising awareness on the Myanmar crisis.

  • Support both proactive and reactive media engagement, by proposing topics, suggesting talking points, setting up briefings, and coordinating response for media request and inquiries.

    Qualifications/special skills Master’s degree in communications

  • At least 5 years of work experience relevant to the assignment, including at the international level with at least 3 years of proven experience of using social media and online communications and media tools.

    Languages Fluency in written and oral English is required.
