This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The Internal Control Officer will work under the supervision of the operations Manager – Assurance & Internal control to support the office efforts in timely risk identification and mitigation in the programming environment The Internal control officer will ideally be a professional accountant, organized with analytical, report writing and problem-solving skills and able to observe strict deadlines. The ICO will oversee a team of UN Volunteers that will be deployed across the 4 field offices by ensuring that quarterly internal control plans are developed, implemented and monthly reports with actionable recommendations shared with management.

•Support the Operations manager in coordinating field verification missions to identify implementation risks and propose mitigations. •Undertake internal reviews of key processes to ensure that there are aligned to organization policies, procedures, and SOPs. •Based on results from internal reviews, propose internal control measures to address identified risks. •Facilitate trainings to staff, contractors and vendors on key UNICEF policies and procedures. •Support the Operations manager in implementing the anti-fraud measures. •Coordinate the follow-up and implementation of recommendations made from various verification special assignment reports. •Conduct ad hoc fact-finding engagements into identified or reported risks. •Support the assurance team on any other assigned tasks.

  • Graduate professional qualification in accounting /auditing.
  • 3 years of work experience in risk, internal audit or accounting environment.
  • Accreditation with a professional accounting / auditing body.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

As this is a national UNV assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. UNV Field Unit will help you open a Pak rupee bank account with Standard Chartered Bank or any other local bank at your duty station.

Assignment remarks: This is a national UNV assignment and a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of PKR 111,489 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service.
