An exciting opportunity to work with the Head of the unit to advise on, support, and develop internal communication, working closely with the Secretary General’s Office.

What we are looking for

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a highly qualified, resilient and dynamic communications professional to advise on, support, and develop internal communication in NRC, including from the Secretary-General and Senior Management Group. The successful candidate will work to implement the internal communication strategy and contribute to delivering on NRC’s global strategy.

What you will do

Some of your specific responsibilities include:

  • Project manage the delivery of internal events and communication campaigns that build staff engagement: including coordinate, prepare, organise, promote, and facilitate internal events like all staff meetings, virtual field trips, etc.
  • Support the Secretary General’s office and the Senior Management Group on internal communication. Participate in forums and groups to understand communication needs and respond in a timely manner.
  • Support content owners in keeping their intranet content up-to-date and engaging.
  • Provide advice and respond to requests to disseminate communications.
  • Obtain data and share information.

What you will bring

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with internal communication in a large and complex organisation.
  • Minimum 3-year experience in project management, involving change management and communication (from the same or other position).
  • Experience in working with organisational development and administration in larger organisations/companies, ideally including multi-site operations.
  • Experience in working with sensitive information.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Technical knowledge and interest for internal communication in large and complex organisations.
  • Excellent planner, ability to work to deadlines and adapt quickly when needed.
  • Collaborative and service minded.
  • User focus and empathy.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Able to always handle confidential information.
  • Fluency in English and Norwegian, both written and verbal
  • Communicate clearly, actively listen to others, respond with understanding and respect
  • Tailor communication to different target groups and channels
  • Able to explain complex concepts and arguments clearly to a diverse audience
  • Willing to accept and commit to change
  • Plan and prioritise and respond flexibly to changing circumstances
  • Remain calm and focused in challenging situations.

What we offer

  • Duty station: Oslo, Norway.
  • Contract: national contract, 1-year fixed contract.
  • Salary/benefits: grade 8 on NRC’s regional salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions
