What we are looking for

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a qualified, experienced, and self-reliant Specialist Adviser Internal Audit & Quality Support.

The role of IA&QS is to assist management to enhance and protect organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice and insight, applying a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.

What you will do

  • Deputy Head, acting as Head of internal audit the absence of the Head of IA&QS.
  • Conduct and document internal audits (assurance and advisory assignments) in accordance with the current International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF), relevant standards and methodologies. The scope of internal auditing encompasses, but is not limited to, the examination and evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of an organisation's governance, risk management, and internal controls, as well as the quality of performance in carrying out assigned responsibilities to achieve the organization’s stated goals and objectives. Based on risk assessments and prioritization, audit activities include:
  • Evaluating risk exposure relating to achievement of NRC’s strategic objectives.
  • Evaluating the reliability and integrity of information and the means used to identify, measure, classify, and report such information.
  • Evaluating the systems established to ensure compliance with those policies, plans, procedures, laws, and regulations which could have a significant impact on the organization.

What you will bring

  • Higher academic education with topics within internal and / or external auditing, accounting, finance, business management, legal, political science, and the like. Relevant practice can outweigh the formal education requirement.
  • Certification in internal auditing is desirable, such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Internal Audit Practitioner, Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), Certified in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) and/or Graduated Internal Auditor.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is essential. Fluency in Norwegian Spanish, and/or French is desirable.

  • Salary/benefits: Grade 9 on NRC’s Head Office salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
