Overview

Support video and graphic design for training programs in Knowledge Management Team.

You have:

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, be enrolled in, or have completed, the FINAL academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Strong background in video post-production using Final Cut Pro and/or digital communications using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro).
  • Fluency in English is required (UN Level II) and knowledge of French (UN Level I) is desirable.
  • Obtain a G4 visa if not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Duties and Responsibilities

This internship is located within the Knowledge Management Team in the Capacity Development and Operational Training Service (CDOTS), Department of Operational Support (DOS) at UN Headquarters in New York. DOS provides end-to-end operational support, advisory services, and other solutions to the operating entities across the Secretariat, including other departments, offices-away-from headquarters, field missions, and regional commissions. CDOTS provides operational training, language and communications training, training on enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, knowledge management, and leads as the main facilitator of business process management activities in the UN Secretariat. The intern will work closely with CDOTS' Communications, Outreach, and Digital Media lead, to support the development of video-based and other graphic design instructional products for operational training programmes. CDOTS offers innovative training and learning and development solutions on a range of thematic areas of operational support, from finance and logistics to engineering and medical services. The Intern will be responsible for the following tasks: Produce, manage and edit video content using Final Cut Pro X and/or Adobe Premiere. Design graphic assets for training and learning products using Adobe Creative Suite. Collaborate with instructional designers and clients to develop video scripts and concepts. Create animated assets for short videos and motion graphics. Develop graphic and video materials to support communications products, as required. Perform additional duties, as needed.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the FINAL academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in video post-production using Final Cut Pro and/or digital communications using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro).

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required (UN Level II) and knowledge of French (UN Level I) is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Visa and Work Authorization Mandatory Requirements: For internships in the United States of America, persons who are not United States citizens, permanent residents or on another non-immigrant (such as F1 or J1 visa) status, will be required to obtain a G4 visa. The selected person will be responsible for ensuring that they have a valid visa, and approved employment authorization (CPT/OPT/AT), allowing them to undertake the internship. Assessment: Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
