Purpose of this Internship is to provide overall support to the Executive Associate to the RR and DRR.

Duties and Responsibilities

Summary of key functions:

  • Maintenance of rosters of UNDP partners, telephone lists;
  • Arrangement of appointments and meetings, acting as an interpreter when required and/or taking minutes;
  • Maintenance of incoming correspondence, registration in the system, translation and making a summary of letters;
  • Maintenance of the filing system ensuring safekeeping of confidential materials. Use of automated filing system;
  • Preparation of required materials for appointments, meetings, missions;
  • Preparation of informal translations;
  • Support on protocol issues related to the 30th Anniversary event;
  • Other responsibilities as required for improved office running.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  1. Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);
  2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);
  3. Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
  4. Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.

Working experience: No previous professional experience required

Desired skills:

  • Strong track record of research and writing skills;
  • Knowledge of gender and/or human rights;
  • Editing skills are helpful;
  • Computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Ability to successfully interact with individuals of different backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Language requirements: Proficiency in English; Fluency in Russian and/or Kyrgyz.
