Org. Setting and Reporting The United Nations Information Centers (UNICs) belong to the Information Centres Services (ICS), Campaigns and Country Operations (CCOD) of the Department of Global Communication (DGC).

The UNICs are the principal sources of information about the United Nations system in the countries where they are located. They are also responsible for promoting greater public understanding of, and supports the aims and activities of, the United Nations by disseminating information on the work of the Organization to people everywhere, especially in developing countries.

The Department of Global Communications internship is for two months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the department and availability of intern. The incumbent reports directly to the Public Information Officer in UNIC Dhaka.

This internship is in the United Nations Information Centre in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Responsibilities The Intern will support the unit in media and communications activities. The candidate will work closely with the team to assist in:

1. Enhance Visual Communication: Contribute to creating visually compelling and impactful graphic and motion graphic content that effectively conveys the UN's initiatives in Bangladesh. 2. Optimize Social Media Presence: Assisting in develop social media content, including captions, to foster meaningful engagement with our target audience and stakeholders. 3. Support Campaign Development: Assist in conceptualizing and planning, social media campaigns and national and international day celebrations that align with the UN's goals and priorities in Bangladesh. 4. Assists in Creating and updating publications: websites and social media accounts, to include drafting and editing content (static posts, videos, reels, stories); assists in design, development, and maintenance of Internet applications. 5. Provide photographic and videographic content as well as coverage of events. 6. Using relevant computer software, assists in creating designs in appropriate format for promotional and other material, e.g., brochures, presentational materials, announcements, video, audio, website, and social media content, etc.; ensures that photos, graphics, etc. are appropriate and conform to UN standards for communications materials. 7. Helps Identify and prepare new material for websites and social media accounts.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time and designed to be an in-person internship.

Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Client Orientation: - Knowledge in environmental and sustainability issues and communications especially in web site management and social media; - Ability to plan, prioritize and deliver tasks effectively and on time.

Education Applicants must, at the time of application,

(a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent) or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree or higher.

- The programme must be in a field of study related to media, communications, journalism or audio visual related subjects. - Have knowledge of digital communications and publishing platforms and. - Be computer literate in standard and design software applications.

Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages English or French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the internship advertised, fluency in English and Bangla are required.
