Org. Setting and Reporting The internship is located in the United Nations Information Center in Washington, D.C. The Center is the principal source of information about the United Nations system in the United States. The Information Center is responsible for promoting public understanding and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by disseminating UN information materials to a local audience in English; engaging local and regional partners; and, overall, bringing the United Nations closer to the people it serves. The duration of the internship is of four months with possibility of extension for two additional months. The internship is UNPAID and full-time or part-time depending on academic obligations, to commence as soon as possible. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) for full time or three days per week (21 hours) for part-time, under the supervision of the Senior Liaison Assistant and other office staff. This internship will take place, in-person, during the Spring 2023 academic semester (January- May 2023). With that in mind, please specify your available start and end dates. Responsibilities The selected intern will perform duties to include, but not limited to the following: - Assist with content and design of social media posts and conduct analysis of social media metrics; - Assist with the production of communication products, including conducting research, compiling information, coordinating logistics, and assisting with public inquiries; - Assist with preparations for events, high-level visitors from headquarters and field offices, and speaking engagements; - Compile, analyze and organize data for office reports; - Attend meetings and draft summaries; - Perform other tasks as necessary.

CLIENT ORIENTATION: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be "clients " and seeks to see things from clients' point of view-Establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect-Identities clients' needs and matches them to appropriate solutions. Monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients' environment to keep informed and anticipate problems. Keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects. Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.

Education Please note that to qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

a. Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, b. Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s leavel or equivalent).

Other skills applicants must also: -Be computer literate in standard software applications - Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter -Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required.
