Intern, Project Financial Analysis and Support (PLANS)

About the position

Based in Rome, Italy at the Alliance Headquarters, and under the direct supervision of the Manager, Business Operations and Finance, the Intern will provide financial support and assistance to the PLANS team and the respective grant financial compliance activities.

Responsibilities

More specifically, the Intern will:

  • Assist the team with financial management of grants and preparation of supporting documentation, preparing training material for staff and material to help embrace the use of technology.

o Support production and collaborate on cross-functional projects that have an impact on our stakeholders. This may require data analysis, reporting, performing data quality assurance activities, data governance and data compliance.

o Contribute to data cleansing, data preparation, and collecting data.

o Collaborate on projects collecting and analyzing requirements, contribute to provide solutions and implementation.

o Actively contribute to the design of new tools and reports.

o Collect data, review relational database, work on developing formulas to help present data and support management of data to provide visual output to support project monitoring.

  • Assist the team with partner financial reporting and clearance processes.

o Review the partner financial reports and ensure that the financial reporting checklist is complete; detect and report issues.

  • Assist the team with grant opening and data management in our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

o Support with simplification of the grant opening in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system,

o Assist with BUS opening and Basic Unit of Science (BUS) maintenance in the ERP system,

o Linking Agreement Expense Category (AECs) to projects in the ERP system,

o Support PCA set up.

o Assist with data control and data monitoring of budgets and expenses in the system.

  • Perform other tasks as required.

    Requirements

  • Ongoing or recently completed studies in finance, accounting, economics, or related fields of studies.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Proficiency of the English language, both written and spoken.

  • Good interpersonal, communications and teamwork skills, courtesy and tact, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different cultural and national backgrounds.
  • Good skills in personal organization and priority setting.
  • Good client orientation and service approach.
  • Good time management skills and attention to details.

    Terms of employment

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a university or graduate school and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies, or alternatively, have completed their university studies within the past six months. The internship shall be on a full-time basis for a period of 6 months. The monthly stipend will be established in accordance with Bioversity International’s local standards and regulations.

  • Be Italian nationals holding a valid passport or identity card.
  • Or be EU citizens holding a valid passport or identity card and confirmation of registration from the Registrar’s Office (Anagrafe).
  • Or Non – EU citizens holding a valid Italian work permit (permesso di soggiorno per lavoro subordinato).
