- Preferred studies in Environmental Law, Environment Science, Policy and Leadership, Business Management, Governance, Political Science, or related fields.
- Be computer literate in standard software applications.
- Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
- Fluency in English and Arabic languages is required.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. Under the direct supervision of The Regional Coordinator for Environmental Governance in the Regional Office for West Asia in Beirut, the Intern will be assigned daily responsibilities based on the individual's background; the office to which the intern is assigned to; the nature of specific projects and the internship duration. This internship will be taking place in the Regional Office in Beirut, Lebanon. The intern will support the team in managing and analysing data related to environmental governance in the region. Under the direct supervision of the Regional Coordinator for Environmental Governance in the Regional Office the intern will: - Support in research, analysis and information gathering from diverse sources to support the implementation of UNEP West Asia project activities related to Environmental Governance in the region. - Support the strategic engagement with West Asia countries, including drafting of action plan with different stakeholders to advance the environmental agenda in the region - Provide support in the improvement of performance management mechanisms to measure efficiency and effectiveness of the regional projects. - Provide support in capturing, managing and analyzing of data/information. - Assist in mapping the various political contexts in the West Asia region and provide the Regional Coordinator with insights and regular updates. - Support towards the design and development of innovative representations of data/information. - Support in preparing research briefs on environmental governance publications in the region and organizing them in the office data center. - Assist with any other additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Qualifications/special skills
1- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Preferred Area of Study: Environmental Law, Environment Science, Policy and Leadership, Business Management, Governance, Political Science, or other related fields. 2- Be computer literate in standard software applications. Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Languages
Fluency in English and Arabic Languages is required for the internship.
