Background Information - Job-specific

UNOPS provides its services through a global network of regional offices, operational hubs and operations and project centres. The Office of the Regional Director for the Asia Region (AR ORD) in Bangkok, Thailand, was established in 2015 to oversee and enable efficient and effective delivery of support to partners in the Asia Region in line with the UNOPS corporate strategy. Currently, over 700 personnel are working on UNOPS projects in diverse and complex environments across the Asia Region.

Functional Responsibilities

At UNOPS, interns join our teams as equal members and are offered a good mix of support work and independent assignments with substantial responsibility. Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Project Management Support Specialist, the Intern will contribute to data analysis and reporting which may include the following:

  • Conduct data collection, research and in-depth analysis on specific topics of interest for AR.
  • Prepare analysis reports, data visualization and dashboards to support the AR Management Team in monitoring and decision making.
  • Contribute to coordination activities in support of AR ORD priorities and initiatives.

The internship will offer insight into working in a United Nations organization and experience in a dynamic, international environment to the incumbent.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education

  • Applicants must be pursuing a university degree, such as a Masters, or be a recent graduate from such studies (within the last 3 years prior to the application date of the internship).

Work Experience

  • While no professional experience is required for an internship, some experience in the fields of Data Management, Analysis and Reporting, Research, Administration, or other relevant field is an asset.
  • Strong computer literacy: Familiarity with Microsoft Office standard programs is essential; in particular familiarity with Excel and Word is required. Familiarity with G-Suite tools or analytical tools is an asset.

Language requirements

  • Fluency in both written and oral English is required.
  • Knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset.
