  • Successfully completed Bachelor’s degree in political sciences, economics, finance, development studies, environmental studies, engineering, or similar.
  • Professional/academic experience in climate protection, financing and/or development cooperation.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of French, Spanish or German is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Very familiar handling the MS Office package and an eye for detail is a strong asset.

Job description

The Mitigation Action Facility is a joint initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Economic Affairs and Climate Action, UK’s Department for Energy Security & Net Zero, the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation. The Mitigation Action Facility catalyses investments, strengthens capacities and triggers behaviour change towards sectorial decarbonisation. GIZ implements the Mitigation Action Facility including the operation of the Technical Support Unit (TSU) as a secretariat. The TSU implements Calls for projects, coordinates and monitors the overall implementation of the programme and is responsible for monitoring, evaluation, reporting, knowledge management and communication of the Mitigation Action Facility. It is in close contact with the Donors of the Mitigation Action Facility, with implementers of projects and potential applicants. More information on www.mitigation-action.org

Your tasks

You will carry out the following tasks during the internship:

  • Support the advisory services of the TSU to Donors, projects, and potential applicants
  • Support the communication activities of the Mitigation Action Facility
  • Support the TSU team in monitoring of the projects and reporting to Donors
  • Conduct research and own analyses on cross-cutting issues (e. g., financial support mechanisms, eligibility checks) and/or sector specific issues relevant for the implementation of projects (e. g., GHG mitigation potential) and their link to the Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement
  • Assist the TSU team in conducting workshops and meetings with external experts and drafting inputs for presentations
  • Support regular team meetings and meetings with Donors
  • Ad hoc assignments and support to the TSU team

Your profile

  • Academic background: political sciences, economics, finance, development studies, environmental studies, engineering, or similar (at least successfully completed Bachelor’s degree)
  • Professional/academic experience in climate protection, financing and/or development cooperation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strategic thinking
  • Very familiar handling the MS Office package and an eye for detail is a strong asset
  • Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is a must, French, Spanish or German advantageous
