Job description
The Oversight Unit (OU) of GIZ is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the commissions of GIZ co-funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the world’s largest climate finance fund. The current portfolio comprises of ten projects across the globe that are at different stages of implementation. GCF co-funded projects feature a series of specific requirements that need to be met, monitored and reported to GCF. Therefore, the Oversight Unit interacts closely with the officer responsible for the commission who operates in the partner country.
The internship will provide insights into the operation of the GCF and the GCF-Oversight Unit of GIZ. Exercising the oversight function requires a considerable level of detail in reviewing processes and deliverables prepared by other units in GIZ. In supporting the Oversight Unit in its function, you will also gather insights into international development cooperation. You will deepen your knowledge of roles and functions, instruments, and glance into GIZ's engagement in the field of climate change mitigation and adaptation for the GCF.
Your tasks
During your internship you'll support the daily work of the members of the Oversight Unit (conceptual work, preparation of meetings and documents, follow-up, documentation, quality control):
- Revision, commenting and preparation for submission of reports to the GCF (in English); elaboration of annotated report templates
- Portfolio-level analyses and formulation of conclusions; elaboration of figures and factsheets
- Preparation and participation in Risk Dialogues
- Promotion of exchange with and among GIZ-implemented GCF-projects
- Support the team of the GCF Oversight Unit team in meetings, workshops, knowledge management, and communication towards donors and inhouse

- Very good practical knowledge of the most popular MS Office applications
