Duties and Responsibilities

Situated in the Strategic Planning, Programme Management, Evaluation and Change Service (SPECS), the intern reports to the Internal Communications Officer and undertakes a variety of tasks to support internal communications, including: • Draft/compile a range of information communications products for target audiences, including all staff messages, newsletters, presentations, brochures and infographics. • Drafts and edits news and content for the Intranet and Knowledge Hub, including compiling and publishing content for the OHCHR Weekly Update. Supports staff in using, editing and publishing content on the Intranet. Tag content on the intranet using the established Taxonomy. • Assist in the identification and development of content and multimedia elements for publishing on OHCHR’s intranet and other channels, including the production and editing of videos and animations, ensuring consistency with OHCHR’s mandate and organizational priorities. • Support the clearance, production and distribution of information material; conduct photo and graphic research. • Work closely with OHCHR colleagues to identify and propose information opportunities, ensuring coordinated, streamlined and professional communication throughout the Organization. • Respond to a variety of inquiries and information requests internally; prepares related correspondence. • Help organise meetings and events as well as create and deliver communication plans in support of such events. • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Perform other work related tasks as required.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a second university degree, equivalent, or higher; (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree (bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants are not required to have previous work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to Media and Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, Audio-visual design and production or similar is an advantage. Good drafting skills in English is a requirement. Skills in Sharepoint Online, graphic design and video editing are an advantage.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset.
