Our team and mission

The Industrial Return and Analytics Office is at the heart of optimising industrial engagement and data-driven decision-making within ESA. Our team is divided into three key areas of expertise:

  1. geo-return calculation and reporting, which ensures that ESA's contracts are equitably distributed across its member states, supporting national industrial development and strategic goals;
  2. data analytics, where we build and develop innovative tools, such as interactive dashboards in Power BI, to provide real-time insights and data visualisation for various teams across ESA;
  3. entity management, where we manage the registration and information of ESA’s suppliers, ensuring accurate and up-to-date data for effective supplier relationship management.

By connecting data, processes, and industrial dynamics, our office plays a critical role in driving efficiency and transparency across ESA’s operations.

As an intern in the Industrial Return and Analytics Office, you will contribute to the development of data analytics solutions that support evidence-based decision-making across the agency. Working closely with the analytics team, you will assist in creating interactive dashboards and data visualisation tools that provide real-time insights to different stakeholders.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • supporting the design and improvement of dashboards in tools such as Power BI, ensuring that data is presented in a clear, accessible, and visually engaging way;
  • assisting in the collection, processing, and validation of data to ensure accuracy and consistency across multiple sources;
  • helping to document and standardize data workflows so that analytics processes become more efficient and easier to maintain;
  • collaborating with team members to understand their data needs and translating them into practical dashboard features or visualizations;
  • proposing ideas to improve existing tools and exploring innovative ways to display complex information in a user-friendly format.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data analytics within a complex international environment. You will learn how to:

  • apply data visualisation techniques to real-world challenges;
  • work with modern analytics tools and understand best practices in data handling;
  • communicate analytical insights effectively to non-technical audiences;

Education

You must be a university student, preferably studying at master’s level. In addition, you must be able to prove that you will be enrolled at your University for the entire duration of the internship.

Additional requirements

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another ESA Member State language is an asset.
