  • Completed Bachelor's and ideally Master's degree in climate, political or economic sciences with a focus on the environment or international finance.
  • Relevant knowledge and high affinity for the topics of climate change and climate finance.
  • Initial experience in project management and/or development cooperation.
  • Structured approach to tasks and problems, initiative, self-organisation and flexibility.
  • Ability to work in a team and sensitive communication behaviour with different stakeholders.
  • Very good practical knowledge of the usual MS Office applications, skills in graphical presentation in PowerPoint.
  • Very good written and oral communication skills in French and English are a prerequisite, and a very good knowledge of German is an advantage.

Job description

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) Business Development Unit (BDU) in the Client and Business Development Department (AGE) is responsible for key account management with the GCF and the development of GIZ project proposals to the GCF. Project proposals are developed and processed in close cooperation with GIZ numerous GIZ units in Germany and abroad. In addition, current developments in the GCF are identified and strategic recommendations for action for the GIZ/GCF business are derived from this.

During your internship, you will gain an insight into the work of the GCF-BDU and become familiar with international development cooperation and its different dimensions (advisory services, processes, partnerships). You will deepen your knowledge of current developments in climate financing and you will get to know GIZ's project work in the field of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Your tasks

You will carry out during the internship the following tasks:

  • You will support the work of project development managers in their entire range of tasks (conceptual work, coordination, drafting terms of reference and many more)
  • Technical commenting on climate and sector related studies and plausibility checks; researching and preparing information (primarily in French and English)
  • Preparation of presentation material, project plans, preparation and follow-up of meetings (with internal and external stakeholders, in country and abroad)
  • Further, you will support the whole GCF Business Development Unit team by participating in workshops, team meetings, knowledge management amongst other activities
  • You will have your own individual work packages and be part of a diverse and enthusiastic team

Your profile
