Org. Setting and Reporting The internship position is located in the Planning, Contracting and Reporting Unit, Staffing, Diversity and Outreach Section, Human Resources Management Service, Division for Management, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV)/United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and envisaged for a period of 6 months with a starting date as soon as possible. The internship will be undertaken remotely from the intern's country of residence and does not involve travel to Vienna.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time; i.e. 5 days per week (40 hours). The selected intern will work under the supervision of the leader of the Consultant and Individual Contractors Engagement Team .

Responsibilities Daily responsibilities will vary and depend on the individual’s background. Daily duties may include:

  • Assisting in engagement of personnel and on boarding process
  • Assisting with drafting and designing of communication materials related to recruitment for outreach purposes
  • Assisting in compiling statistics related to recruitment
  • Assisting in developing an extensive frequently asked questions (FAQs) and updating the relevant web pages
  • Assisting in preparation of background information, data and reports for various meetings
  • Participating in meetings and taking minutes/notes as required
  • Performing any other relevant duties assigned.

    Competencies The United Nations Core Competencies include:

    Education To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above); For this particular internship, major in in one of the following areas is required: human resources management, business or public administration, social sciences or related.
  • Proficient in standard software applications and advanced IT skills; Graphic design, desktop publishing skills will be considered as an advantage;
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

    Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship, fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
