  • be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
  • be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
  • be computer literate in standard software applications such as Office 365 particularly MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, SharePoint
  • Basic knowledge/Ability in Data Management is desirable
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship
  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs. This Internship is located in the Human Resources Unit (HRU) within Central Service at the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy. The Intern will work under the direct supervision of Chief, Human Resources Officer. The Internship is for a maximum period of six (6) months. Two (2) posts are available. The internship is unpaid and full-time. The intern will support the team in the administration and further development of the Global Intern Network on Microsoft Teams. Tasks will include: 1. Contribute to special HR project such as staff engagement, performance management, gender and geographical distribution and support in Talent Outreach etc. 2. Contribute to preparation and review of documents, including guidelines, reports, and newsletters, etc. 3. Assist in planning and organizing HR communication campaign; assists in preparing background documentation, drafting correspondence/communications, reports, and presentations. 4. In collaboration with the Communications Team, support the maintenance of HR related content on social media accounts and initiatives in coordination with HQ as well as working on the internship external and internal web pages. 5. Assist in planning and coordination of meetings, conferences and seminars and participates in the same drafting summary reports and minutes as well as monitoring and following-up on relevant actions. 6. Conduct research on a diverse range of issues using multiple sources; selects relevant material, analyses information, and presents findings for internal review. 7. Review project and progress reports, summarizes findings and lessons learned. 8. Assist in designing, organizing, planning, and managing the collection, evaluation, analysis, compilation, reporting and dissemination for statistical data. 9. Create graphically engaging power point presentations incorporating analytical data. 10. Present visual concepts and ideas in a compelling manner. 11. Develop an inventory of documentation to be retained and participates in record keeping improvement projects. 12. Assist in improving the digitization and distribution of official documentation. 13. Help with the streamlining of the internship programme in UNGSC by providing statistics and run reports related to the programme. 14. Collaborate with the HR team to improve HR related internal communication channels within UNGSC. This includes exploring innovative ways to disseminate information, enhance staff engagement through newsletters or intranet updates, and facilitate feedback mechanisms to ensure effective two-way communication. 15. Assist in the development and execution of HR related external communication strategies for the HR Unit. This involves contributing to the creation of content for social media campaigns and coordinating outreach activities aimed at enhancing UNGSC's visibility and reputation externally, in collaboration with the Communications Team.

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
