Assist in human resources administrative tasks

You have:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate programme, in a graduate school programme or in a PhD programme, or have graduated within the past two years.
  • Educational background in business administration, Information Science or Records Management, Library & Documentation, or Office Management and Secretarial Studies is an added asset.
  • An excellent command of at least one of the Court's official and working languages (English and French) is required.
  • Knowledge of the other language shall be considered an added asset.
  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

The International Court of Justice is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. It is composed of 15 judges, elected by the General Assembly and the Security Council. The Court has a twofold role: first, to settle, in accordance with international law, legal disputes submitted to it by States; and, second, to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by duly authorized United Nations organs and specialized agencies. The Court is the only principal organ of the United Nations not serviced by the Secretariat. The Court has its own administration, the Registry, which provides judicial support to the Court and acts as a permanent administrative organ. The Registry is headed by a Registrar, elected by the Court. This internship is located in the Registry's Administrative and Personnel Division, which is responsible for administration functions, including human resources management, procurement, property management, and building-related matters.

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: - Be enrolled in an undergraduate programme (bachelor’s level or equivalent), in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent) or in a PhD programme, or - Have graduated within the past two years. Educational background in business administration, Information Science or Records Management, Library & Documentation, or Office Management and Secretarial Studies, is not required, but shall be considered an added asset.

Languages

An excellent command of at least one of the Court's official and working languages (English and French) is required. Knowledge of the other language shall be considered an added asset.
