Duties and Responsibilities

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. This internship in the Staff Administration Unit, Human Resources Section, Santiago will last 3 (min) to 6 (max) months, depending on the needs of the Office. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an "as-needed" basis. The intern will be under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Human Resources Section and directly supervised by the Chief of the Staff Administration Unit. Responsibilities: Internship with the Staff Administration Unit: - Provide support to HR Partners with Onboarding and Separation activities; - Provide support with review and update of Welcome Guide for new staff; - Provide support with the administration and analysis of different surveys; - Provide support with the preparation, delivery, and follow up of different communications (e.g. memos, contracts, official documents, communication to all staff) - Provide support to HR partners with the preparation and distribution of monthly reports. - Update communication templates (e.g. outlook, brochures); - Provide support with special projects, as needed. Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and needs of the Unit at the time of the start of the internship.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation. - For this internship, studies in the Administration, HR Management or related fields are desirable. Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme. Studies in Administration / Human Resources is desirable Studies in data management / analysis is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in Spanish and knowledge of English is required.
