Duties and Responsibilities

This internship is located in the UNOG working group on racism and the Geneva alliance. The Intern reports to the Chair of the working group.

The intern will support the working group in accomplishing its objectives and tasks will include:

• Assists the secretary of the Working Group in taking notes and drafting minutes of the various meetings held by the Working Group. • Assist in drafting communications to be published internally through the various UNOG communication channels, i.e. broadcasts and Iseek. • Assists in the creation of the UNOG webpage in relation to racism and racial discrimination and in adding regular content to it. • Collects information about the universities to be contacted within the outreach efforts made by the Working Group. • Assists the chair of the Working Group in the monitoring of the agreed recommendations to fight racism and racial discrimination. • Serves as the secretary of the Geneva Alliance against racism. • Performs other duties as instructed by the Chair of the Working Group.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Good planning and organizing skills are desirable. Good drafting skills are desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of French is desirable.
