It is the only specialized institute in the United Nations system with a mandate for higher education improvement in Member States. UNESCO IESALC’s vision is to promote the right to higher education through capacity development for the formulation and implementation of quality, equitable, and inclusive higher education policies at the national, regional, and institutional levels in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Member States, with a view to global outreach. UNESCO IESALC operates in English and Spanish. In partnership with UNESCO International Centre for Higher Education Innovation (UNESCO ICHEI), UNESCO IESALC is currently undertaking a project on Digital Transformations of Higher Education in LAC (“the Project”). The aim of the Project is to improve understanding of the current landscape of digital transformations in higher education in LAC and to provide policy-oriented recommendations for enhancing the use of technology in improving the quality of and access to higher education. UNESCO IESALC’s Research and Foresight team is looking for an intern to support this Project. The ideal candidate is passionate about higher education, knowledgeable about digital transformations, eager to gain experience in applied research, and with native/full professional proficiency in Portuguese. The intern will carry out the following duties and responsibilities: 1. Provide high quality written translations from English (or Spanish) to Portuguese. 2. Conduct online interviews with higher education stakeholders (e.g. senior university administrators, government officials, quality assurance agency staff) in Portuguese. 3. Build an online survey in Portuguese. 4. Support data analysis from survey and interview data in Portuguese (and Spanish if applicable). 5. Assist with drafting report and policy recommendations on digital transformations. 6. Communicate with Project stakeholders. 7. Other tasks considered relevant to digital transformations and digitalization of higher education at the request of the Head of Research and Foresight. Acquired knowledge of UNESCO’s areas of competence in relation to higher education. 3. Learnt how to deal with diverse stakeholders from various cultural backgrounds. 4. Gained solid working knowledge of the operations of and with an intergovernmental organization. 5. Contributed to improving the landscape of digital transformations in higher education in LAC. 6. Strengthened their research, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
