Join the American Heart Association as an intern for hands-on experience in health advocacy.

You have:

  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in public policy, public health, or related fields.
  • Experience in synthesizing academic or clinical research and data for policy or advocacy audiences. Especially related to publicly funded healthcare programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to go beyond surface-level analysis of abstracts to draw out policy-relevant insights.
  • Understanding of Medicaid, including covered services, delivery systems, and state/federal policy intersections.
  • Must be familiar with software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, including professional interaction tailored to a policy/advocacy context.
  • Required Equipment: Reliable Wi-Fi connection.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
