Org. Setting and Reporting This internship is in the Ethics Office, United Nation Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in HQ Amman. The duration is for three months with a possible extension of maximum eleven months, depending on the needs of the office.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of Senior Ethics Officer, and Chief Ethics Office and in coordination with Ethics Office members.

Responsibilities Responsibilities of the internship position encompass the following aspects of Ethics Office's work.

These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Fully support the Ethics Office in translating, reviewing, and updating the blended trainings, such as the Harmonious Workplace from English to Arabic. This would include all the necessary work on Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Support the Ethics Office on the Area Staff Declaration of Interest Progeamme (ASDIP).

  • Assist in conducting preliminary reviews and analysis of Protection against Retaliation complaints and assist in drafting responses.

  • Assist in the coordination of stakeholder meetings and in taking accurate minutes and follow up actions.

  • Provide debriefing and hand-over notes to Senior Ethics Officer, and Chief of Ethics at the end of the internship and

  • Perform other duties as appropriate

    Competencies- Excellent Microsoft Office Skills, in particular MS PowerPoint. - Excellent writing and drafting skills in Arabic and English. - Have excellent drafting, translation and communication skills. - Excellent Communication Skills, written and oral. - Planning and analyzing

Education To qualify for an internship with the UNRWA Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

1) Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business Administration and Management, Human Resources or equivalent. 2) Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.

Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the UNRWA Internship Programme. Although prior experience in ethical issues will be an advantage.

Have a demonstrated keen interest in ethical issues and law or related fields is desirable.

Have a demonstrated ability in legal research and analysis and drafting legal opinions is desirable.

Languages English and Arabic are the working languages of UNRWA. For this internship, fluency in Arabic and English is required.

Special Notice Interns are not financially remunerated by the UNRWA. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
