Org. Setting and Reporting The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO) in Tajikistan supports the work of the UN Resident Coordinator and coordinates activities of the UN Country Team in its engagement with the Government as defined by the UN Development Assistance Framework 2016-2022 (UNDAF)e.g. UN system support to national development priorities. The UNRCO has five core functions viz. strategic planning, economic development, partnerships and development finance, data, results management and reporting, and communications and advocacy. The UNRCO seeks to enlist a full-time intern to support the development of an information system to help the UNRCO to coordinate the collation, analysis, and sharing of data.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time (mode of work can be additionally agreed once the intern is hired). The intern will work five (5) days per week (40/20 hours) under the direct supervision of the Economist and the overall guidance of the RCO Team Leader, Senior Development Coordination Officer, and Strategic Planning. The intern will collaborate with Partnerships and Development Finance and Data management, results reporting and M&E Officers.

Responsibilities- Stocktaking exercise to identify the availability and frequency of time series data and sources for selected socioeconomic indicators. - Extract and compile data from a range of primary and secondary sources including narrative reports (socioeconomic reports of the Agency of Statistics, UN’s Common Country Analysis, and other analytical pieces on Tajikistan) and verify data/information for consistency and accuracy. - Develop and maintain a simple excel or access database with a dashboard and populate it with time-series data for the selected socioeconomic indicators; also create a linked database containing key facts and figures on SDGs linking it with the SDG tracker or other such global tracking databases. - Create a system for filters and queries to produce tabulated data and other statistical reports; also develop filters and queries for the UN Agencies Projects database including separate section for UN Joint Projects which allows disaggregation by UN agencies, period, Donors, partners, budgets, delivery, and implementation status. - Test the system and conduct periodic checks; prepare a short guidance note explaining how the system works, and instructions on future data entry and maintenance.

Education To qualify for an internship with the United Nations, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Applicants are encouraged to list all relevant work experiences in their application, as well as interests, skills and knowledge in the areas indicated in the job opening. Applicants must have studies in a relevant field of study in Journalism, communications, digital media, or marketing or related fields. Students of international relations or related fields may also be considered for this internship. In addition: - Be computer literate in standard software applications; - Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and· - Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship advertised, fluency in Russian, Tajik and English is required.
