Overview

Support research, event coordination, and data analysis in economic affairs.

You have:

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) is an entity within the secretariat of the UN and was established in 2003. It is unique in that it is dedicated specifically to the Africa region and focuses on Africa’s priorities and international support to Africa’s development. OSAA’s core functions are advisory, advocacy, coordination and monitoring. The Office works with all parts of the UN system in an effort to ensure coherence in the critical work of the UN on the inter-related issues of peace, security and development in Africa. In particular, the intern will report to the Team Leader of the Policy Analysis Unit and will perform the following functions: 1. In-Depth Research: Explore financing for development, illicit financial flows, debt issues, credit rating agencies, Industrialization, Fourth Industrial Revolution, Technology and Innovation. 2. Document Preparation and Event Coordination: Draft reports, briefings, presentations, and organize technical meetings, webinars, and workshops. 3. Conference and Meeting Support: Attend and assist in preparing reports for conferences and meetings. 4. Data and Statistical Analysis: Provide data and statistical support for financing for development initiatives.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
