Org. Setting and Reporting The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Office for Central Asia (UNODC ROCA) seeks motivated interns for an internship position based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The intern is expected to support (1) Global Programme to prevent and combat corruption through effective implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption [UNCAC] in support of Sustainable Development Goal 16, and the anti-corruption component the Sub-Programme 2 of the UNODC Programme for Central Asia for 2022-2025” and (2) An Expert Advisor, and Rehabilitation and Reintegration (R&R) programming in Uzbekistan to support the Government of Uzbekistan’s (GOUs) repatriation efforts of foreign terrorist fighter (FTF) family members.

Responsibilities 1) Within the anti-corruption programme: Under the supervision of the UNODC ROCA Regional Anti-Corruption Advisor and a National Programme Officer, the selected intern will provide support in the implementation of activities within the framework of “the Global Programme to prevent and combat corruption through effective implementation of United Nations Convention against Corruption [UNCAC] in support of Sustainable Development Goal 16, and the anti-corruption component the Sub-Programme 2 of the UNODC Programme for Central Asia for 2022-2025” which will include, but will not be limited to the following: - Support in the organization of meetings, conferences, workshops and other events; - Conduct search and compile information on the situation related to anti-corruption development in Uzbekistan and Central Asia; - Assist in drafting minutes of the meetings, short reports, news briefs, web-stories; - Assist in data collection on open sources using technology and innovation practices; - Setting up and maintaining files/records; - Assist in the collection of contact information; - Provide assistance in the development and maintaining of project-related data system requesting other colleagues on timely provision of information and other project-related materials to upload to the system; - Provide assistance in developing funding proposals to China, France, EU, etc. - Provide assistance in the preparation and translation of specification requirements for procurement of equipment; - Performing other admin duties if required.

2) With the R&R project: Under the overall supervision of UNODC ROCA National Programme Officer and direct supervision of National Project Officer, the selected intern will provide support in the implementation of activities within the framework of the “An Expert Advisor, and Rehabilitation and Reintegration (R&R) programming in Uzbekistan to support the Government of Uzbekistan’s (GOUs) repatriation efforts of foreign terrorist fighter (FTF) family members” component and other activities under the Sub-Programme 2 and Sub-Programme 4 of the UNODC Programme for Central Asia for 2022-2025, which will include, but will not be limited to the following: - Support in the organization of meetings, conferences, workshops and other project events to strengthen strategic engagement with UN system partners; - Provide general office support (including drafting, processing and finalizing project-related documents such as Note Verbales, letters, contracts, etc.); - Assist in the evaluation of commercial proposals; - Assist in conducting marketing research; - Assist in drafting minutes of the meetings, short reports, news briefs, web-stories; - Assist in data collection on open sources using technology and innovation practices; - Setting up and maintaining files/records; - Assist in the collection of contact information; - Assist in drafting agendas of meetings/trainings/events, lists of participants and other relevant information for organization of Project activities; - Provide assistance in the development and maintaining of project-related data system requesting other colleagues on timely provision of information and other project related materials to upload to the system; - Provide assistance in the preparation and translation of specification requirements for procurement of equipment.

Education To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) (degree should be in management, social sciences or other relevant academic disciplines). (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION);

  • Be computer literate in standard software applications; Good typing and designing skills would be desirable;

  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and

  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

    Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

    Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
