Overview

Support digital communications and advocacy for the UN RCO in Mongolia.

You have:

• Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme or first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
• Possess digital communications skills and proficient user in graphic design software and social media digital platforms.
• Familiarity with the concept of sustainable development will be an asset.
• Previous experience working/volunteering/interning with the organization of events, missions, seminars, and conferences will be an asset.
• Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
• Intermediate knowledge in English is required for the internship.
• Fluency in written Mongolian is required for development of communications materials in Mongolian.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Resident Coordinator System encompasses all organizations of the United Nations that have operational activities in the country. As the designated Representative of the UN Secretary-General and leader of the UN Country Team (UNCT), the UN Resident Coordinator (UNRC), in consultation with the UNCT, assumes overall responsibility and coordination of the developmental activities of the UN carried out at the country level. The UNCT is composed of representatives of the UN funds and programmes, specialized agencies and non-resident UN agencies. The UNCT in Mongolia has various working structures to ensure coordinated interagency action in the country and implement joint activities under the leadership of the RC. The RCO Intern will be requested to support the RCO Digital Communications & Advocacy. In regards to tasks related to digital communications, the Intern will work under the direct supervision of the UN RCO Communications and Advocacy Officer and will assist in the execution of the services in the UN RCO in digital and social media communications. The internship position is for Mongolian nationals and is located in the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and is offered for a period of 6 (six) months. The internship is unpaid with in-person working arrangements. The Intern is expected to work five days per week (above 34 hours), under the supervision and support of a staff member from the office to which they are assigned.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office in Mongolia, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must: - (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or - (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) - (c) Possess digital communications skills and proficient user in graphic design software and social media digital platforms; and - (d) Familiarity with the concept of sustainable development will be an asset and - (d) Previous experience working/volunteering/interning with the organization of events, missions, seminars, and conferences will be an asset and - (e) have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Languages

English is the working language of the United Nations in Mongolia. For the internship advertised, intermediate knowledge in English is required. Fluency in written Mongolian is required for development of communications materials in Mongolian.
