Background

UNDP in Sri Lanka is reorganizing internally and moving to an integrated collaborative business model. Post Context:

The Citra Social Innovation Lab, a joint initiative between the Government of Sri Lanka and UNDP, was established in 2018.

As Sri Lanka’s first Public Sector Innovation Lab, over the last several years Citra worked to strengthen institutions, build capacities of the public sector, and re-engineer public service delivery through specialized foresight and innovation tools, such as design-thinking, systemic design and human-centered design approaches, among others. The Innovation Lab works in alignment with national development priorities and works towards bringing in greater citizen engagement to the formulation of development solutions.

Under the direct supervision of the Strategic Engagement & Exploration Lead, Citra Lab, the intern will be expected to provide support to the Citra Social Innovation Lab

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support on data and statistics during the entirety of lab interventions – from the unpacking of the issue, to forming solutions, and to testing;
  • Support data mining, processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis and assessing the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques;
  • Assist ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner using data visualization techniques;
  • Support the Lab’s engagement and facilitation activities for external partners;
  • Assist in any and all other tasks as required for the operation of the Lab;

Required Skills and Experience

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

(a) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);

(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);

(c) Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;

(d) Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
