Org. Setting and Reporting This internship is located in the Office of the United Nations Ombudsman and Mediation Services (UNOMS) in Geneva Regional Office. UNOMS was established as the informal pillar of the internal system of administration of justice to make available to staff the services of impartial and neutral persons to address work-related concerns of UN personnel.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

The internship is for a minimum duration of three (3) months and can be extended up to six (6) months depending on the needs of the service.

Interns work five (5) days per week (35 hours) under the overall supervision of the Regional Ombudsman in Geneva supported by the UNOMS Geneva Conflict Resolution Officer and the UNOMS New York Communications Officer.

Responsibilities The Intern's duties will include the following:

- Support to Outreach and Advocacy. - Assist with outreach activities such as preparing and editing texts, articles and presentations. - Support to preparing data and preparing reports. - Conducting research and help develop training in areas of conflict resolution, negotiation and consensus building. - Carry out other related tasks as and when needed.

CLIENT ORIENTATION – Considers all those to whom services are provided to be 'clients' and seeks to see things from client's point of view; establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect; identifies clients' needs and matches them to appropriate solutions; monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients' environment to keep informed and anticipate problems; keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects; meets timeline for delivery of products or services to clients.

Education Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship advertised, fluency in both English and French is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
