- Be computer literate in standard software applications.
- Fluent in English and Arabic are required for the internship. Knowledgeable in French is desirable.
- Have a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. Under the direct supervision of the Regional Information Officer in the Regional Office for West Asia in Beirut, the Intern will be assigned daily responsibilities based on the individual's background; the office to which the intern is assigned to; the nature of specific projects and the internship duration. This internship will be taking place in the Regional Office in Beirut, Lebanon. The intern will support the team in monitoring and implementing communication tasks. Under the direct supervision of the Regional Information Officer, the Intern’s duties may include, but are not limited to: - Assist with daily press monitoring and collection of information on environment issues in the region - Assist with the drafting of information material - Support Fetching and developing social media content - Updating communications list of events and calendar - Assist with performing other research-related duties as required - Support in any other business as requested
Qualifications/special skills
1- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Preferred Area of Study: Communications, Journalism, Design, or another relevant field is required. 2- Be computer literate in standard software applications. Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
