Overview

Assist in communication activities and social media management.

You have:

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate school program or final academic year of a first university degree.
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
  • Fluency in another official UN language (preferably French or Russian) is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Section, the intern will contribute to the activities of the Information Unit in the following areas:

•Daily media monitoring and dissemination of news about UNECE (all languages, all on-line media, use of Meltwater, Factiva and news searches on the web), disseminated daily to all staff •Preparation of monthly and ad-hoc reports on the press coverage about UNECE, distributed to management •Preparation, scheduling and posting of content of UNECE accounts on X, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram + Hootsuite social media management tool •Preparation of engaging visuals and infographics for use on social media and website •Preparation and distribution of our weekly electronic newsletter in English (using Mailchimp) •Photo coverage of meetings and events •Drafting of news stories and other communications content •Translation of press releases and news articles

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

Languages

Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Fluency in another official UN language is desirable, preferably French or Russian.
