Org. Setting and Reporting UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some 5 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA’s services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance and emergency assistance. UNRWA is the largest UN operation in the Middle East with more than 30,000 staff. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions.

The Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) of UNRWA is seeking TWO Business Intelligence/Data Engineering Interns to support the work of the department. The intern will report administratively to the Head of the Information Technology Service Centre at the Headquarters Gaza and technically to the Head of the Information Security Office at the Headquarters Amman.

Responsibilities The interns will be given the opportunity to work in various BI/Data Engineering projects, under the mentorship of highly qualified BI/Data specialists, to gain experience and knowledge in this area and will also support and assist with: - Support the team in collecting and analyzing the business needs. - Help the team in designing and building data models. - Build and design simple data pipelines. - Build data visualization reports. - Perform other duties if required.

Education - A university degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, information systems, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or other related disciplines from an accredited educational institution. - Familiarity with at least one database software (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) - Solid knowledge of Structural Query Language (SQL). - The ability to collect and analyze requirements and build ER diagrams. - A good knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). - A basic understanding of Extract, Transform, and Load concept. - A basic understanding of data visualization. - A basic knowledge of cloud services provides (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.) is desirable.

Job - Specific Qualification - IT certifications will be an advantage is desirable.

Languages Fluency in spoken and written English.
