You have:

  • Enrolled in a graduate school programme or in the final academic year of a first university degree programme or have graduated recently and can start the internship within one year of graduation.
  • Computer literate in standard software applications, preferably including Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and personal commitment to its ideals.
  • Ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Experience in analysis of complete sets of data to identify anomalies and trends is desirable.
  • Audit experience is desirable.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

The intern will have the opportunity to gain exposure to the UN Secretariat's work in audit. Depending on the competencies and interests of the intern, the assignments will include: • Assist in data collection, analysis, and other assigned tasks. • Prepare working papers for review by the auditor in charge. • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship through the United Nations New York Headquarters Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be:- enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or- enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or- Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. (b) Be computer literate in standard software applications, preferably including Microsoft Excel and Power BI; (c) Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of its Charter; and (d) Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. (e) Successful candidates should be registered for or have completed studies in business administration, finance, accounting, statistics, data science or related field. Experience in analysis of complete sets of data to identify anomalies and trends is desirable. Audit experience is desirable. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
