Overview

Support the UNOG Anti-Racism Advocate in various capacities.

You have:

  • Enroll in or complete a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a related field such as Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, Social Sciences or Administration.
  • Experience or studies in Racism and/or Discrimination issues is an asset.
  • Skilled in data analysis and reporting.
  • Skilled in videography and graphic design.
  • Skilled in drafting, editing and proofreading communications.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of an additional United Nations official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
  • Interns must cover the costs of travel including visa, accommodation, health insurance and other living expenses.
  • Candidates should discuss specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.

Duties and Responsibilities

The intern will be tasked with supporting the UNOG Anti-Racism Advocate. Key responsibilities will include: • Assisting the secretary of the Working Group in taking notes and drafting minutes of the various meetings held by the Working Group and Geneva Alliance against racism (GAAR). • Assisting in organizing events such as all-staff meetings, informal gatherings of staff and external outreach activities. • Assisting in video taking activities for outreach/advocacy activities. • Assisting in drafting communications to be published internally through the various UNOG communication channels, i.e. broadcasts and iSeek. • Working with various teams of social media to monitor statistics and the impact of the outreach activities and reporting to the Chair. • Assisting in the creation of the UNOG webpage in relation to racism and racial discrimination and in adding regular content to it. • Collecting information about the Global South countries to be contacted within the outreach efforts made by the Working Group. • Performing other duties as instructed by the Chair of the Working Group and GAAR. • Assisting the chair of the Working Group in the monitoring of the agreed recommendations to fight racism and racial discrimination. • Serving as the secretary of the Geneva Alliance against racism (GAAR).

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Interns must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a related field such as, Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, Social Sciences or Administration. Experience or studies in Racism and/or Discrimination issues is an asset. In addition, the candidate should be skilled in data analysis and reporting, videography and graphic design, drafting, editing and proof reading. Applicants to the UN Internship programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Languages
