Overview

Support the Office of the Director in administration and projects related to innovation.

You have:

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Pursue a degree in Administration, Business, International Relations or related field.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications including MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Fluency in English required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities

The intern will support the ongoing work of the Office of the Director, Division of Administration. Duties may include, but are not limited to: - Implementation of projects related to the diverse portfolio of the Office of the Director, including in innovation and change management, process improvement and client engagement, incl. the development of proposals, planning implementation and reporting - Liaison with diverse stakeholders within UNOG, with UNHQ and with partners in international Geneva - Research and analysis to support innovation in administrative service provision and management - Assist in the organization and servicing of events, workshops and meetings, incl. the development of innovative formats, record-keeping and follow-up - Support communication and outreach, incl. design of visual material, presentations and preparing drafts for communication products - Support to other activities and projects, with the possibility to propose own ideas and initiatives

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Interested candidates must be pursuing or must have pursued their degree in Administration, Business, International Relations or another field related to this Job Opening. In addition, interested candidates must: - Be computer literate in standard software applications including MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point); - Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and, - Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Applicants to the UN Internship programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (Bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Programme. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of an additional United Nations official language is an asset (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish).
