Org. Setting and Reporting This position is in the Anti-Racism Team, Office of the Under-Secretary-General for Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance, New York. The incumbent reports to the Senior Programme Management Administrative Officer through the Associate Programme Management Administrative Officer.

The Anti-Racism Team is responsible for high-level oversight, coordination, monitoring, advocacy, mainstreaming, and long-term sustainability of the activities of departments and offices in addressing racism and racial discrimination in the United Nations Secretariat. The interns will work with the Anti-Racism Team, based in New York (with possible hybrid work arrangement), and are expected to support the different work areas.

The internship is for three months, with the possibility of an extension of up to a maximum of six months, pending the needs of the Office. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities The intern will be responsible for the following duties:

Research •Conduct research, and gather feedback or other inputs from various agencies, entities, and representative groups in the context of anti-racism within the UN common system. •Analyze and identify the data, trends, issues, gaps, and areas of collaboration and support the preparation of internal progress and data reports. •Participate in the ART meetings to gain an understanding and status of the UN system-wide anti-racism goals, priorities, and action plans. •Provide substantive and administrative support in preparing, organizing, and servicing the ART working group sessions and those of the Implementation Steering Group (ISG). •Attend webinars and other information sessions within the United Nations at the request of the Supervisor and produce short summaries of content. •Assist in compiling and presenting relevant information on staff identity and its interconnections to staff experiences with racism at work in presentations, infographics, data visualizations etc. •Assist with the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of large sets of data, including structured data, web data, text, and social media data. •Assist in creating and building a repository of anti-racism resources/bibliography for use by the Anti-Racism

General Administration •Prepare, process and follow-up on administrative arrangements and forms. •Draft routine correspondence and maintain up-todate unite files (both paper and electronic). •Maintain files of rules, regulations, administrative instructions and other related documentation. •Perform other related administrative duties as required

Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.

Education To qualify for an internship by the United Nations Headquarters Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

1. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).

2. Applicants must be computer literate in standard word processing and software applications, including MS Suite (Word, Excel).

3. Applicants must have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter.

4. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

If already in the United States of America on another non-immigrant visa status other than G-4, interns will be responsible for ensuring that they have a valid visa, and if required, employment authorization, allowing them to undertake the internship.

Applicants must be willing and prepared to undertake the internship remotely for a part or the entirety of the internship.
