BACKGROUND & PURPOSE OF ASSIGNEMENT:

ABOUT WFP CAMEROON:

Cameroon is facing three parallel crises with different causes and consequences. Needs range from immediate lifesaving to protracted recovery. Since November 2017 the socio-political crisis in the North West and the South West regions turned into a situation of violence with increasing reports of human rights violations and abuses, including extra-judicial killings, arbitrary arrests and destruction of property, and rising humanitarian needs. Almost 680,000 Cameroonian are now internally displaced due to this crisis mainly in the North West and the South West regions. The number of people in need in the South West and North West regions has significantly increased from 1.3 million to 2.3 million (HRP 2020).

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSABILITIES:

  1. Support the Head of Field Office/Deputy Emergency Coordinator in coordination and Information management tasks related to the L2 in both NW and SW regions and follow up on actions with Cooperating Partners.
  2. Support the Field Offices of Bamenda and Buea and Country Office in emergencies by preparing, organizing and providing secretarial support as required.
  3. Follow up with partners internally and with UN agencies to ensure consistency in humanitarian information and to complement WFP analysis and information.
  4. Contribute to identifying Corporate Performance Reporting improvements.
  5. Support the drafting of, and contribute to, any OIM and PR related normative guidance as required,
  6. Support the development, and assurance of defined quality standards in all processes and products.
  7. The Interne will work to ensure that relevant program materials such as Human-Interest Stories, inputs for donor reports, factsheets, SITREPs, info graphs etc. are developed and sent to Country Office for clearance.
  8. Assist the Field Office in developing donor visit schedules/brochures, donor gifts and cards etc.
  9. Support preparation of background materials, briefs and information kits for WFP and donors visits.
  10. The Interne will assist program staff in the proposal development stage to identify appropriate communication activities for the projects.
  11. Draft and edit articles, press releases, human interest stories and other advocacy/information materials.
  12. Support in the organization of workshops, seminars, campaigns, events and project review meetings including agendas and meeting minutes.
  13. Participate in negotiations for partnership agreements, in line with internal policies and external regulations, in order to reach advantageous outcomes for WFP, such as more flexibility, transparency and predictability.
  14. Support Coordination and preparation of accurate reporting on donors and resourcing status of programmes, identifying trends and issues, and proposing solutions, to enable informed decision-making and action planning by senior stakeholders.
  15. Prepare briefing documents and Talking Points for management meetings with donors.
  16. Other as required.

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate programme
  • Fluent in Englist
