Overview

Duties and Responsibilities

Org. Setting The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. This internship is located at Headquarters of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm (BRS) Convention in Geneva. The Secretariat of the BRS Conventions brings together the three leading multilateral environmental agreements that share the common objective of protecting human health and the environment from hazardous chemicals and wastes. The interested candidate will: • Research, ideate and develop social media products that are compelling, relevant and catchy in different formats, including videos, cards, infographics and interactive content to be used across all BRS digital channels in three languages. • Support the creation of posts in English for BRS social media platforms, focusing on multimedia stories, campaigns and UN International Days; • Provide assistance in researching, curating and presenting stories, images and videos on BRS’s digital platforms, including Trello boards. • Assist in producing language versions of videos and graphics. • Support the team in the production of weekly, monthly and yearly analytics reports. • Assist in the work and coordination with influencers and partners. • Support the team in the production of the BRS Highlights Newsletter

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); c. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Preferred: Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, Digital Design, Visual Display of Scientific Information

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
