UNOPS hosts the Stop Tuberculosis Partnership Secretariat (STBP) as of 1 January 2015, in Geneva, Switzerland. The vision of the Stop TB Partnership is to realize the goal of elimination of Tuberculosis (TB) as a public health problem and, ultimately, to obtain a world free of TB by ensuring that every TB patient has access to effective diagnosis, treatment and cure; stopping transmission of TB; reducing the inequitable social and economic toll of TB; and developing and implementing new preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic tools and strategies. The Stop Partnership is uniquely positioned to support the development and further implementation by partners of the current and future Global Plan, acting as a coordinator and catalyst for the range of partners engaged in the fight against TB.

Founded in 2001, the Stop TB Partnership's mission is to serve every person who is vulnerable to TB and ensure that quality-assured treatment is available to all who need it. Stop TB partners include international and technical organizations, government programmes, research and funding agencies, foundations, NGOs, civil society and community groups and the private sector.

Functional Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader and in close collaboration with the other team members of the Diagnostics Procurement and Supply Team, the intern will assist with the procurement and supply of TB Diagnostics, Medical devices and other health products to GDF clients. The intern will be exposed to various functional areas in accordance with UNOPS and Stop TB partnership -GDF processes.

His/her main tasks will be related to the following areas: 1. Creation of the shipments in an order and subsequent follow up of the order under the supervision of the Diagnostics Procurement Officer and the Diagnostics Procurement and supply assistants. 2. Plan and organize calls/meetings with the diagnostics suppliers and freight forwarders, including, preparing the agenda, meeting notes and dissemination with respective supply partners. 3. Prepare routine data reports that the Diagnostics Procurement Officer and Diagnostics Procurement or the supply assistant may require 4. Prepare freight market updates based on the reports received from the freight forwarders, 5. Update relevant order process documentation, especially the one with particularities of import procedures, documentation requirements and specificities of organization of deliveries per country. 6. Review of the current filing system of the Diagnostics documentation and propose changes to improve the search of the diagnostics documentation 7. Focal point for the updates needed in the OMS manual for In-house procurement 8. Assistance with any update of the current order process documentation. 9. Performs other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education: Applicants should have graduated from a university / business school program such as Bachelor, Master (or the equivalent) preferably in logistics, management, or procurement prior to the application date of the internship.

Experience: The candidates should have some experience (volunteer or paid) in areas such as logistics and supply chain management, project support, public health. Experience in Office software packages (Word, PowerPoint) and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet (Excel).

Language: Fluency is English required Knowledge of Spanish or French is an advantage

This internship is not designed to lead to a staff position with UNOPS. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.

Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend from UNOPS provided that they do not receive funds from other institutions. Further, UNOPS may provide a one time travel lumpsum. However, they must make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and necessary visa arrangements.
